Bioinformatician (Master’s level)
A unique opportunity for a Master's level Bioinformatician interested in joining a diverse bioinformatics team in the industry
We’re looking for a Bioinformatician to join our production team for an EU-funded Marie Curie ITN project. The project is fixed-term and lasts for 36 months. If you have passion for implementing and applying next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis pipelines, this could be the perfect opportunity to enhance your expertise with not just them, but also with cutting-edge bioinformatics tools. (Non-negotiable) Eligibility criteria:
- You must have completed a Master’s degree in Bioinformatics or related field
- You must not have a PhD
- You must not have previously enrolled for a PhD program
- You must not have a recent residency in Finland (maximum of 12 months within the last 3 years)
- Work must be performed in Tampere, Finland
- Proficient written and spoken English
What are the key responsibilities:
- Developing, testing and documenting NGS analysis pipelines
- Analysis of NGS data
- Participation in the EU project meetings
What are we looking for:
- Proficiency in Bash, Python and R
- Familiarity with HPC environment, e.g. Slurm, version control
- Experience with NGS data analysis and handling omics data types (eg. RNA-seq, DNA-seq)
- Experience in preparing scientific publications is seen as an advantage
- Experience from developing web apps is seen as an advantage

- The first discussion is more general, focusing on us getting to know each other. We will want to hear more about your motivation and expectations in order to decide if we are a mutual match.
- The second discussion will be with our Bioinformatics Team Lead Grigorios and our HPC Administrator Henry. The second discussion will be more technical and it’ll aim at assessing the level and type of bioinformatics expertise you have.
- If you and we both think that we could be a mutual match, the third stage consists of going through the contractual details and making a job offer.
